Paul Ince heaped praise on Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah but warned the 25-year-old that he would be a mistake to leave Anfield anytime soon.

The former Reds midfielder shared that he thought Salah should remain where he is, even if Real Madrid and Barcelona come calling for him in the summer.

“Mohamed Salah would be foolish to leave Liverpool right now, he’s in a place which is the perfect fit for him,” stated Ince in his column for Paddy Power.

“Don’t get me wrong, it’s always going to be tough when the big boys come calling. It’s hard to ignore Real Madrid or Barcelona – as we saw with Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez, but I believe Salah should sit tight.

“You’ve seen how poorly Alexis Sanchez has handled the transition to Man United, or even Paul Pogba’s return, it can be a real struggle for some players to handle the move.”

Ince tipped Liverpool to be a “trophy-winning” team next season with Salah in their side, before raving about the winger’s performances this season.

“He’s a real rare talent,” said Ince.

“He’s only 25-years-old, he still has plenty of time, he must be enjoying his football, and he’s at a club which have a very good team and manager, and will allow him to play exactly how he wants.

“It’s only been a season, but if he proves he’s at this level consistently for another couple of years, then you can start to say it.

“He’s had a phenomenal season, but to be one of Anfield’s best ever, you need to keep re-producing that form.”

Salah arrived at Anfield in the summer after joining from AS Roma, and has scored 36 goals in 41 appearances for the club this season.

OPINION

It is becoming a trend for pundits as of late to question whether Salah can replicate his form next season. This campaign is not even over and yet football experts still want to be negative about the red-hot Reds winger. Salah can do nothing to silence the doubters until the next campaign, where he will be given the chance prove that he is not a one-season wonder. However, it is refreshing to hear a pundit state the reasons why Salah would be right to turn down a potentially dream move to one of the Spanish giants. Normally a pundit is begging the Reds not to accept offers for him, because it will hurt them, not their player.
