Everton are determined to sign Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy in the summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper claim that the Toffees held a meeting last week to discuss their summer recruitment plans and that the 31-year-old forward tops their transfer wishlist.

The Daily Mirror report that the centre forward currently earns a £100,000-a-week at Leicester City, but would jump at the chance to join the Toffees as he could be given a deal which would put him in line with Wayne Rooney, who earns a £150,000-a-week.

The speed machine of an attacker has had a tremendous time at the Foxes since joining them in 2012, scoring 81 goals in the 224 appearances he has made for the club.

The 31-year-old was an integral part of the Leicester side which won the Premier League in 2016, as he netted 24 goals in 36 league appearances in order for his side to secure a shock title victory.

Good move for Everton?

The Toffees are definitely in need of improving their threat in front of goal, but Vardy would be an expensive option for them.

Leicester City will do everything in their power to hold onto the 31-year-old and if they’re unable to keep him, they will demand a ridiculous price for his services.

While Vardy shows no signs of slowing down, with him being 31-year-old, he is not a long-term solution to the Toffees’ lack of goals.

Likely to happen?

If this report is to be believed, then Everton have their heart set of signing Vardy and are willing to give him a tempting deal in order to get his signature.

The only problem is, it is hard to envision Leicester City selling the player who has been so vital to their success in recent seasons.
