Arsenal are ready to sell Aaron Ramsey in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim that the Gunners are looking to offload the 27-year-old midfielder as they fear he is going to leave for free when his contract expires in 2019, in what will be a shock transfer update for supporters.

The Daily Mail report that the club have began identifying replacements for Ramsey, even though the Times have previously reported that the Gunners had begun talks with the midfielder over a new contract, as they were keen to try and sign him to a longer deal, leaving the ace’s situation unclear.

The Times’ report shared that Ramsey, who currently earns £110,000-a-week, is likely to want a significant increase on his current pay to see him earn similar money as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who are both on a reported £170,000-a-week.

OPINION

Ramsey is still a key player at the Gunners, having made 21 appearances this season, but his recent performances have hardly deserved him getting a bumper new contract. While the 27-year-old has proven in the past that his capable of being a great player for Arsene Wenger’s side, if he really is holding out for a wage in the region of £170,000-a-week, then the Gunners are right to be considering his sale. There will no doubt be a lot of clubs willing to take a chance of Ramsey and that will see the north London side get a respectable sum for the midfielder. The only question that Arsenal have to answer is who will they sign in his place?
