Aston Villa’s John Terry had a long meeting with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia on Thursday, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claim Granovskaia is Roman Abramovich’s most trusted director and is responsible for contract negotiations with the club’s star players.

The Sun report that the meeting meant that Terry had moved closer to returning to Chelsea, with many expecting him to return to Stamford Bridge in the future.

It is believed that the 37-year-old future with the Villans is yet to be decided with the centre back out of contract in the summer.

The 37-year-old has been a key member of Steve Bruce’s side this season having made 25 league appearances to help the Villans sit third in the Championship.

The Daily Mirror previously reported that Terry was plotting a move back to Chelsea in the summer in order to start his coaching career.

OPINION

Aston Villa supporters are probably not surprised that Terry has started talks to see him move back to Chelsea in the summer. The veteran defender has always appeared to be Chelsea through and through and if there’s a chance for him to go back to the club in the summer, he is going to take it. Terry has been surprisingly impressive for the Villans this season with many having doubts about whether he was still capable of putting in good performances at his age. However even if Terry departs in the summer, Aston Villa fans shouldn’t be too disappointed as his efforts could see them in the Premier League next season.
