Long-term Rangers absentee Jordan Rossiter made his return from recurring injury troubles as he captained the club’s development squad to a 1-0 win over Valencia, and fans have taken to Twitter to react with delight at his recovery.

The Under-23 squad are currently in Spain on a training camp, and have beaten big teams such as Bayern Munich and Villareal in recent weeks.

They won again on their penultimate match in Spain as they overcame a stubborn Valencia side 1-0 thanks to a penalty from Zak Rudden.

Andy Dallas, who was a hat-trick hero against Villareal, was fouled in the box, and Rudden stepped up to make no mistake from the spot as the Gers sealed a 1-0 win.

First-team star Rossiter, 20, captained the side on his return from injury, and came through the match unscathed to provide a big boost for the club.

The young midfielder, a free transfer from Liverpool in the summer of 2016, has made just 10 first-team appearances for the Light Blues since signing as he struggles with recurring injuries.

Manager Graeme Murty even admitted the club’s concerns over Rossiter’s injury record, suggesting that the midfielder’s body was struggling to hold up to the rigours of professional football.

Hopefully his return with the Under-23s is the start of an extended injury-free run for the 20-year-old, and fans are certainly delighted at the news.
