Rangers overcame Hamilton Academical 5-3 at New Douglas Park on Sunday in a thrilling Premiership clash, but fans have taken to Twitter to slam the display of midfielder Greg Docherty.

Hamilton took the lead after just five minutes with Darren Lyon slotting past Wes Foderingham to set off a manic first-half which saw five further goals scored.

Rangers pulled level through Jamie Murphy, before taking the lead as Josh Windass benefited from a howler by Hamilton goalkeeper Gary Woods.

Hamilton levelled up proceedings just minutes later as David Templeton scored against his former club, before Alfredo Morelos and Windass put Rangers 4-2 up at the break.

Windass, who has just signed a contract extension at Ibrox, completed his hat-trick in the second-half thanks to a brilliant cross by Morelos, and Rangers saw out a 5-3 win after Dougie Imrie scored a spot-kick at the death.

Former Hamilton star Docherty started in midfield for Rangers but struggled to impact the game, apart from striking the bar with a good effort on the turn in the second-half.

Docherty was a £650,000 signing in January for Rangers, with the 21-year-old midfielder arriving after impressing for boyhood club Accies in the first few months of the season.

Fans however took to Twitter to express their disappointment at his display on Sunday.
