Jamie Murphy completed 90 minutes in the win against Hamilton on Sunday afternoon – and Rangers fans on Twitter raved about his performance.

The 28-year-old attacker is currently on loan at Ibrox and starred at the weekend as the Gers beat Hamilton away 5-3.

Graeme Murty’s side jumped up to second in the league table with three points and the scoreline was 4-2 at half-time after a crazy opening 45 minutes.

Darren Lyon put the hosts in front after just five minutes to capitalise on a Rangers defensive error, but left-winger Murphy was on hand with a swift response with a simple finish inside the 18-yard box.

The two teams continued to trade blows and were level again at 2-2 after Josh Windass’ fortuitous goal was cancelled out by a smart David Templeton finish for Hamilton.

However, the Gers asserted their dominance and took a two-goal lead at half-time courtesy of strikers from Alfredo Morelos and then Windass for another.

The second period was a much duller, but it did allow in-form attacker Windass to grab his hat-trick and Dougie Imrie to net a late consolation penalty.

Murphy was at the heart of the success as he grabbed a goal and two assists to his name, which has seen him quickly become a firm favourite since he arrived on loan from Brighton.

Rangers fans on social media highlighted Murphy for his individual display and even drew comparisons to current Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne due to his assists.

The Scotsman’s assist for Windass’ second goal was the pick of the bunch as he laid on a perfect opportunity with a first time pass.
