West Ham could reignite their interest in Anderlecht’s midfield enforcer Leander Dendoncker at the end of the season, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper claims that David Moyes’ side tried and failed to sign the 22-year-old in the January transfer window.

It is understood the Hammers could return with a fresh attempt in the summer to sign the defensive midfielder from the Belgian top flight as they rate him very highly.

The report details that the Premier League side are keen to bolster in the centre of the park and want to sign at least two midfielders ahead of next season.

Good move for West Ham?

West Ham certainly need some fresh blood in the midfield and picking up Dendoncker would be a brilliant move.

The Belgium international is being tipped to become a brilliant player in the future and is already a mainstay in the Anderlecht side.

He is renowned for being a big physical strength and that is something that would make him a hit at the London Stadium in the Premier League.

West Ham need to ensure they avoid relegation as they are just three points above the drop zone, but Dendoncker is the type of signing that could give the side some much-needed extra quality.

He is very confident in possession and has the versatility play in either midfield or defence if needed.

Likely to happen?

West Ham seem persistent on trying to get this deal over the line after missing out in the summer and Dendoncker looks like he could be the latest Belgian superstar to end up in the Premier League.

There is little suggestion of how much the Hammers will have to cough up for his signature, but there interest seems genuine and this move could gather pace as the summer approaches.
