Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham has revealed that he is likely to hold talks about a new contract with the club in the summer.

The 27-year-old has explained that fresh negotiations are expected to be held at the end of the season about extending his Ibrox stay.

He signed a one-year extension back in September to keep him with the Light Blues until 2020.

Foderingham has become the first-choice goalkeeper for Rangers in recent years and is very highly-rated.

The shot-stopper has already made 31 appearances across all competitions this season and kept 10 clean sheets in return.

Foderingham details that any talks over a new deal will be held with the Gers after the conclusion of the current campaign.

“I signed an extension in the summer and I think it’s an agreement between myself and the club where we look at it where we are at the end of each season so I think that’ll be talked about at the end of the season,” Foderingham said in a video shared on the club’s YouTube channel.

OPINION

Foderingham is still under contract until 2020, but it’s important to secure the long-term future of one of their most senior players and talks at the end of the season are a good thing. The goalkeeper is one of the most consistent performers in the side and is a safe pair of hands between the sticks. He has now made 124 appearances for the Light Blues and is an integral part of their rise back to the top flight as they look to close the gap to champions Celtic. Foderingham rarely receives all the plaudits, but he is clearly doing a steady job as goalkeepers are always scrutinised over any sort of mistake. Rangers could perhaps do with more competition in goal moving forward, but he is a very good options that is proving himself in the Scottish Premiership.
