Ian Wright has mocked Tottenham defender Serge Aurier after he was penalised three times for foul throws in the win over Crystal Palace.

Spurs earned a 1-0 victory courtesy of Harry Kane’s late goal, but the game will also be largely remembered for a trio of errors from their right-back.

Aurier was penalised three times as he struggled with throw-ins and has come in for a lot of stick from Wright.

“It’s not even the case of taking throw-ins, you just know how to take them from a young age,” Wright told BBC 5 live Sport.

“It’s the basic thing you should know as a professional footballer is how to take a throw-in and when you see it you cannot help but laugh.”

Aurier has endured a mixed start to life with Spurs since his summer arrival and has shown he can be a little erratic.

The 25-year-old is competing with teammate Kieran Trippier for the regular right-back position as manager Mauricio Pochettino frequently likes to rotate.

OPINION

Aurier demonstrated poor quality with his comical errors against Palace and has rightfully received a lot of stick for failing to carry out such a basic task. The Ivory Coast international arrived with a mixed reputation and is living up to it with some real moments of madness. There are serious doubts over his discipline and is turning in inconsistent performances for the North London club. Trippier should have the edge in the full-back area right now given he is a more reliable player, but in truth Spurs were always going to struggle finding a true replacement for Kyle Walker after he left in the summer for Manchester City.
