Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has given his approval of Toulouse defender Issa Diop after the club’s scouts watched the Ligue 1 sensation, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Spanish news outlet claims that Spurs representatives have watched him in action and the boss has given a thumbs up over their reports.

It is understood that Arsenal, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Barcelona are also keen as they monitor the 21-year-old.

The report details that the in-demand centre-back received attention as his side suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat in the French league clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

Good move for Spurs?

Diop is an upcoming talent at Toulouse and has captained the side on numerous occasions this season to highlight his potential.

The defender is renowned for his powerful style and turn of pace, which could see him be a success in the Premier League.

Spurs do already have the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez as senior centre-back options, but adding another upcoming star could be a smart move.

The north London club often used a back three and Pochettino could help improve Diop during his development.

Likely to happen?

It is too early to suggest Spurs could pull off a deal for Diop, but with Pochettino a fan it is a possibility.

However, there is widespread interest in the French centre-back and his stock will only continue to rise if he continues impressing this season.
