Rangers boss Graeme Murty has admitted that there may be a conversation about an exit for Alfredo Morelos on Wednesday, but insists he remains calm about the situation.

The young Colombian striker has been the subject of several big-money bids from Chinese Super League side Beijing Renhe, and Wednesday is their last chance to submit a final offer with the transfer window set to close.

Speaking after Rangers’ comfortable 4-1 win over St. Johnstone at McDiarmid Park, Murty spoke out about the situation.

As quoted by Sky Sports, he said: “I’m still relaxed about the Alfredo situation. If they come in with a ridiculous bid that the club want to talk about then we’ll have a conversation.

“But until that happens I’ve got a centre-forward who is adding to our collective and scoring goals and looking like he’s really got his mind focused.”

Morelos has been a revelation for Rangers this season after his £1million move from Finnish outfit HJK Helsinki, scoring his 17th goal of the campaign against the Saints.

His 13 league goals puts him out in front outright in the race for the Premiership golden boot, leading Kilmarnock’s Kris Boyd and teammate Josh Windass.

OPINION

It can be safe to assume that Morelos will remain a Rangers player until the end of the season. Even if another big bid comes in, Rangers have shown that they will not be swayed by money. Unless the offer is a significant hike on the ones already received, then they will most likely continue in that vein. After all, Morelos’ form shows no sign of letting up, and there is no reason why he will still be worth the same amount or even more in the summer.
