OPINION

Liverpool and Tottenham served up another cracking advert for the Premier League on Sunday as the two top-four contenders went toe-to-toe in an exhilarating 2-2 draw at Anfield, and there were plenty of talking points from the match.

Liverpool took a very early lead through man-of-the-moment Mo Salah, with the Egyptian slotting home after a defensive error from Eric Dier put him clean through on goal after just three minutes.

Tottenham eventually got their foot in the game after recovering from an early period in which they looked massively ruffled, but it took them until 80 minutes to equalise.

Victor Wanyama was the hero as the midfield destroyer scored the best goal of his career with a bullet half-volley from nearly 30 yards which rattled into the top corner.

Spurs then looked on for the win after Harry Kane went down under a challenge from goalkeeper Loris Karius, despite suggestions of a dive, but the Spurs striker’s tame effort was saved.

Salah then scored his second with a solo goal that Lionel Messi would have been proud of, before Spurs were again awarded a spot-kick in the 95th minute and Kane made no mistake this time around.

Much of the spotlight after the game was focused on the officials, with Liverpool unhappy with both penalty decisions, but there were several points to take away from the Reds’ display.

This is Futbol have picked out three things we learned from Liverpool’s display, including pesky problems that still remain for the Reds, and an emerging star who is going under the radar.
