Robbie Fowler shared that he has been amazed by the amount of goals Mohamed Salah has been able to score for Liverpool so far this season.

The retired striker, who is a Reds legend after scoring 148 goals in 328 appearance for the club, heaped praise on Salah after being asked about him at a charity event.

“That is the aim of his [to reach 40 goals], it’s unbelievable what he’s achieved so far,” said Fowler at a charity event for Red Neighbours, as quoted by Sky Sports.

“I don’t think anyone could’ve envisaged what would’ve happened, I think everyone knew he was a good player, but to get where he is at the speed he’s done, it’s frightening.

“I’m a Liverpool fan, I want Liverpool to score loads of goals, I want him to score loads of goals.

“I want Liverpool to be successful and if he keeps doing that it means we are on to something pretty good.”

The 25-year-old has scored 30 goals in 36 appearances for the Reds this season after joining from AS Roma in the summer.

Salah cost Liverpool £34million, according to the BBC, and signed a five-year contract upon joining.

OPINION

It’s hard to not be impressed by Salah as his goalscoring record speaks for itself. The 25-year-old has been a revelation at Anfield this season and if the Reds were better defensively and more consistent, then he could have easily helped them lift a trophy this season. Salah’s impressive performances will see Liverpool have to battle to hold onto the winger as the biggest clubs in Europe will obviously try and sign him in the summer. Salah may have signed a five-year deal but if Real Madrid or Barcelona bid a record-breaking amount, it might force the Reds to let him go. However, with the Reds looking like being genuine title contenders next season, they have enough to keep Salah happy at the club for the time being.
