Aston Villa talisman John Terry is to decide on his future at the end of the season with several overseas clubs showing interest in his signature, according to the Daily Mail

The newspaper claim that Terry has an option to extend his contract at Villa Park for another year, with his decision to depend on the outcome of the club’s promotion push.

The Mail report that promotion to the Premier League would make another season at Villa more enticing, but may also cause problems for Terry, who has expressed a desire to never face his old club Chelsea.

It is said that clubs from China, the USA and the Middle East are all interested in bringing in the 37-year-old this summer.

Good move for Aston Villa?

No.

Terry has shown this season that he can still hack it at a top level, and the preferred option for Villa would surely be him staying for another season.

There are few players in the world who have as much experience in the Premier League as John Terry, and that would be invaluable to Steve Bruce’s side if they do achieve promotion.

Likely to happen?

It is hard to say what Terry will decide to do.

Firstly, we must wait and see where Villa finish at the end of the season.

If they are promoted, then it would seem slightly more likely that he would stay for another season.

If they fail in their promotion push, then Terry may look abroad for one last lucrative deal before retirement.
