Leeds United beat big-spending Everton to the last-gasp deadline day signing of Jordan Stevens from Forest Green Rovers, according to Leeds Live.

The Trinity Mirror news site claim that United beat Everton and Brighton the capture of Stevens, 17, after his arrival at Elland Road was announced almost 12 hours after the window had shut.

Leeds announced on their official Twitter account and official website that the midfielder had agreed terms to a two-and-a-half-year deal with the option of an extra year.

Football Insider had revealed less than two hours before the January transfer deadline on Wednesday night that the teenager had completed his move to Elland Road, beating Premier League sides to his signature.

Stevens had been playing regular football for Forest Green Rovers, making 15 appearances in all competitions and scoring one goal in the process after making his professional debut in September.

It has been a hive of transfer activity at Leeds in the past month as they plan for promotion as well as the medium and long term future. Stevens joins Aapo Halme, Oliver Sarkic, Sam Dalby, Kamil Miazek and Pascal Struijk as signings for the Under-23s squad in January, on top of the first-team purchases of Laurens de Bock, Adam Forshaw, Tyler Roberts and Yosuke Ideguchi.
