Everton have a big issue on their hands with midfielder Davy Klaassen after his reported loan move to Napoli collapsed on deadline day.

Sky Sports report that the 24-year-old saw talks with the Italian club break down and that Napoli realised he would have been cup tied for their Europa League matches.

The Holland international is still a Toffees player following the close of the January window and manager Sam Allardyce must reinstate him to the team.

Everton splashed out £24million on the playmaker in the summer as he joined from Ajax, but he has made just 13 senior appearances since his move.

The attacking midfielder has been completely frozen out of the fist team and has not featured for them since December.

However, Klaassen can’t spend another half of the season rotting in the reserves and the big-money signing needs to be given another chance in the senior squad by Allardyce.

The creative maestro has not just become a bad player over night and he could still make an impact if Everton decided to throw him a lifeline.

Klaassen made 50 appearances across all competitions last season for Dutch giants Ajax, scoring 20 goals and supplying 12 assists.

He is a technically gifted player that has the potential to be a big hit in England and it was far too soon to write him off.

It is understandable that he slipped down the pecking order amid relegation fears earlier in the season, but now is the perfect time to throw him back in and allow him to compete for the number 10 role.
