Rangers boss Graeme Murty needs to try reinforce his forward options during the rest of the January transfer window and Derby ace Darren Bent should be on his radar.

The Gers currently have 12-goal Alfredo Morelos as their main attacking option, but there is certainly not enough firepower behind him in the shape of Eduardo Herrera or Kenny Miller.

The Ibrox outfit have aspirations to at least leapfrog Aberdeen into second in the league table in the second half of the season and bolstering their strikeforce would help them achieve that.

Rangers have already had success in the loan market in January with the captures of Sean Goss and Jamie Murphy, which is why they should now plot a fresh move on Championship outfit Derby.

Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough has confirmed that he has made an enquiry to Derby about the availability of striker Bent as he has fallen out of favour this season.

The 33-year-old has not made a senior appearance this season and been unable to break back into the first team after a hamstring injury.

However, Rangers should rival Burton’s interest in the English centre-forward and try to secure a deal to bring him to Ibrox.

Bent is an experienced attacker that would certainly improve the Gers in the final third and is renowned for being a clinical finisher in the 18-yard box.

The deadly poacher has an eye-catching record of 106 goals in 277 Premier League games and would surely rip apart defences in Scotland.

Some Rangers fans may suggest that he has past his peak, but he scored 13 goals across all competitions last season when he was in the Derby first-team picture.

The Scottish giants should definitely enter the running for Bent during January as he would be an excellent addition to Murty’s squad, while they would also give him a much better opportunity to play regular football.
