Rangers have confirmed their fourth signing of the January transfer window as Norwich City skipper Russell Martin joins on a loan deal, and fans have taken to Twitter to express their excitement at the announcement.

The club confirmed the news on their official website on Tuesday, with Martin joining on a temporary deal until the end of the season.

He becomes their fifth acquisition of the January window, joining left-back Declan John, Brighton winger Jamie Murphy, QPR midfielder Sean Goss, and Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings at Ibrox.

All four players have joined on initial loans, with the club having a deal in place to buy Murphy at the end of the season, and an option to buy Cummings at that point too.

Martin joins Gers after spending nine years at Carrow Road, making more than 300 appearances for the Canaries in that time.

The 32-year-old has vast experience in the Premier League, with 125 appearances in the English top-flight for Norwich.

The Brighton-born enforcer has also earned 29 caps for Scotland, qualifying through his father, with his last cap coming in March 2017.

Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to voice their delight at the signing, with many hoping for even more business as we enter the final two weeks of the transfer window.
