Leeds United are reportedly keen on signing Adam Bogan on loan from Liverpool if Andy Lonergan leaves by next week – and fans have delivered negative verdicts on Twitter.

Football Insider reported earlier today (Thursday) that Sunderland have expressed an interest in signing Lonergan to solve their keeping dilemma and that Leeds have floated the idea of a swap deal.

Yorkshire Evening Post corespondent Phil Hay subequently reported on his personal Twitter account that the Black Cats are ready to table a bid for Lonergan, 34,  and have lined up Liverpool back-up keeper Bogdan as a “possible loan replacement”.

Bogdan, 30, joined Liverpool from Bolton Wanderers in the summer of 2015 and has made just six appearances for the club.

He has not featured at all this season after suffering a serious knee injury while on loan at Wigan Athletic in 2016-17 but he is now fully fit and could be loaned out before next Wednesday’s window cut-off.

Leeds fans are not impressed at the idea of signing Bogdan as a replacement for Lonergan, who has not featured for Leeds since the 4-1 defeat to Wolves in November and has been forced to watch from the sidelines as Felix Wiedwald regained his spot as the first choice in goal.

Most of the Elland Road faithful on social media were disparaging towards the Hungary international with comments including “useless”, “garbage” and more “banter” following the Leeds badge farce.
