Crystal Palace are lining up a mega £7million bid for Leeds United target Jack Marriott at League One club Peterborough, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that Premier League outfit Palace are considering a late move in the January window to sign the 23-year-old striker.

It is understood that a £7million offer has been mentioned and they could press ahead with official contact to try win the race for his signature.

The report details that top-flight club West Ham have also scouted the English centre-forward, while Leeds, Aston Villa, QPR and Millwall are all interested.

Good move for Leeds?

Leeds are just three points adrift of the play-off spots in the league table and they could end up in the top six if they signed a clinical goalscorer in the remainder of the January window.

Marriott has been in stunning form for Boro this campaign, scoring 23 goals in 38 games across all competitions.

It would be a slight gamble bring the striker up to the Championship, but he looks primed to play at a higher level and he recently struck twice against Aston Villa in the FA Cup.

Thomas Christiansen’s side are missing someone to spearhead the attack and pop up with vital goals, something that Marriott has the potential to do.

Likely to happen?

It is pretty clear that Leeds could do with another attacker in the rest of the January window and have been widely linked with several centre-forwards.

However, it seems that Marriott is unlikely to end up at Elland Road as the £7million sum that Palace could bid may be a step too far for them.
