Newcastle United have become interested in signing Bournemouth winger Junior Stanislas, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claims in its live transfer blog (1:28pm, Sunday) that the Magpies have switched their attention to the 28-year-old.

It is understood that Rafael Benitez has drawn up a new attacker plan after growing frustrated with the pursuit of left-sided flyer Kenedy from Chelsea.

The report details that the manager is quite keen to bring some new attacking options to St James’ Park in January.

Good move for Newcastle?

Newcastle undoubtedly could do with some fresh options out wide, but Stanislas would hardly be a huge upgrade on either Jacob Murphy or Matt Ritchie.

The Bournemouth wide man has struglged this season to earn a regular starting XI spot and a thing injury has not helped his cause.
He has managed just one goal this campaign for the Cherries and not been at his best.

Stanislas did show last season his class, scoring seven goals and supplying five assists for Bournemouth.

He would be a decent signing for Benitez, but hardly the gamechanger that is going to get the fans excited.

Likely to happen?

Newcastle’s pursuit of a new attacker is set to continue for the rest of the season and a swoop for Stanislas could well be on the cards.

However, the deal seems a mile away at this point as there is no indication as to whether Bournemouth would be willing to part ways with their attacker.
