Luton Town defender James Justin has revealed that he has no intention of leaving the League Two club in January amid reported interest from Leeds United.

News outlet Football Insider has claimed that Thomas Christiansen’s side are lining up a move for the 18-year-old right-back during the current transfer window.

The report detailed that the Yorkshire giants are preparing an offer for the teenage defender and may need full-back reinforcements following the season-ending injury suffered by Luke Ayling.

However, Justin has now confirmed that he is happy to stay with current League Two leaders Luton for the rest of the season and has his eyes firmly set on promotion with them.

“Yes of course (I’m happy to stay),” Justin told Ninety Minutes Online.

“Obviously there’s rumours going about all the time, especially if you are top of the league, and that is credit to our team that we are attracting so much interest.

“Nobody really plans to move in January so the target is to concentrate on each game and look forward to promotion at the end of the season.”

Justin is aiming to help Luton obtain promotion to League One and has been an important player for them.

The English right-back has made 15 appearances across all competitions this season and chipped in with two goals in return.

OPINION

Leeds’ full-back situation has become an interesting one following Ayling’s injury and Christiansen still may need to bring in an extra body. However, Gaetano Berardi and new signing Laurens De Bock are now expected to cement their positions in the starting XI over the coming months. The Whites to already have a very capable right-back in Lewie Coyle out on loan at League One side Fleetwood Town and it may be worth bringing him back to Elland Road if there are fears over the size of the squad. Justin is definitely a bright prospect that already has a lot of senior experience for an 18-year-old, but it seems any potential Leeds move if off the cards for the foreseeable future.
