Nottingham Forest have launched a bid to sign Chelsea attacker Charly Musonda on loan for the rest of the season, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper claims that new manager Aitor Karanka has made an attempt to bring the 21-year-old attacker to the City Ground from the reigning Premier League champions.

It is understood that the Championship side have joined the race for the in-demand attacker alongside the likes of Bournemouth, Newcastle and Watford.

The report details that Chelsea are prepared to sanction the temporary exit of the Belgian to give him regular first-team experience.

Karanka is also believed to be pursuing deals for a new goalkeeper and a centre-back as he plots to make improvements to his squad during the remainder of the January window.

Good move for Forest?

Forest would be pulling off an exceptional deal if they managed to sign Chelsea’s rising star on loan.

The versatile attacker can play anywhere across the frontline and is renowned for his brilliant speed and trickery.

He has made six senior appearances for Antonio Conte’s side this season, but there is a real belief he can develop into a future superstar.

Forest will need to go on a brilliant run in the second half of the season if they are to claw back the deficit to the play-off spots and the signing of Musonda would send out a huge statement to the rest of the league.

Likely to happen?

Forest are unlikely to fall short in their attempts to land Musonda as he will surely be heading for a Premier League club in the second half of the season.

He would be a guaranteed starter at the City Ground to try tempt him in dropping down a division, but the fleet-footed attacker is very highly-rated at Stamford Bridge.
