Celtic have submitted an offer to sign Besiktas defender Dusko Tosic, according to Askam.

The Turkish news outlet claims that the Bhoys have launched a £2.65million bid to try sign the centre-back, who can also be deployed at left-back.

It is understood that Turkish giants Besiktas are holding out for closer to £3.5million for their experienced 32-year-old.

Tosic has been a regular this season in the heart of defence for Besiktas and helped them reach the last 16 of the Champions League, where they will face Bayern Munich.

Good move for Celtic?

Brendan Rodgers could do with adding another centre-back to his squad during January despite the arrival of Marvin Compper already.

The Bhoys have seen Erik Sviatchenko depart on loan and they could do with some more experience in their backline.

Tosic would be a great signing for the Scottish champions given his experience and his versatility to play full-back would also provide some much-needed cover for Kieran Tierney.

Likely to happen?

Celtic have lodged an opening offer for Tosic, but it’s unlikely that will be enough to convince Besiktas to part ways with a regular starter.

He is currently playing regularly for the Turkish giants and is preparing for a Champions League tie, which is why a move could be a surprise if it goes through in January.
