Rangers have had a bid in the region of £1million accepted by Brighton for wide forward Jamie Murphy, according to Sky Sports Scotland.

The broadcaster claimed on their Twitter account on Thursday afternoon that Murphy, 28, will undergo a medical at the Glasgow giants today after the fee was agreed between the two clubs.

Ex-Motherwell star Murphy has been high on the wanted list of director of football Mark Allen for some time and is now set to return north of the border.

Murphy made 40 appearances last term for Brighton, helping them gain promotion from the Championship.

But he has been a bit-part player in the Premier League and has turned out just fives times for Chris Hughton’s side this season, failing to make the matchday squad for their 2-2 Premier League draw against Bournemouth on Monday.
