Norwich City club captain Russell Martin is set for a medical at Rangers on Tuesday after the two clubs agreed a January loan deal, according to Sky Sports

The broadcaster report that the 32-year-old Scotland international is set to travel to Glasgow for a medical within the next 24 hours.

Martin has become a talismanic figure after eight years at Carrow Road, and has played over 300 times for Norwich, including 125 appearances in the Premier League.

The enforcer has however fallen out of favour under new manager Daniel Farke, and has not played for the first-team since August.

He is set to become the fifth signing of the January window for Rangers following deals for Declan John, Sean Goss, Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings.

Good move for Rangers?

100%.

Martin has such vast experience at the very top of English football, as well as with Scotland.

It looks as though Rangers are set to lose another veteran centre-back in Bruno Alves, and Martin will be a perfect replacement.

Unlike Alves, he will know what to expect in Scotland, and should be able to come straight into the side after his loan deal is completed.

Likely to happen?

This one looks all but done after a long few weeks of speculation.

As long as there are no hitches with Martin’s medical, which is reportedly scheduled for tomorrow, then this one should be wrapped up very soon.
