Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie has extended his loan stay at Berwick until the end of the season, it was announced on Monday.

The League One side revealed on their official website that McCrorie’s loan from the Glasgow giants will continue for the remainder of the campaign after being one of the team’s outstanding players.

McCrorie joined Berwick last summer and has made a huge impact and is the only player at the club to figure for every minute of competitive action throughout the first half of 2017/18.

The 19-year-old keeper recently signed a new four-and-a-half year contract at Ibrox that will keep at the club alongside twin brother Ross until 2022.

McCrorie is yet to make his first-team debut for the Gers but is highly rated by the club’s coaching staff and is a Scottish youth international who has recently been promoted into the Under-21 squad.

OPINION

Allowing McCrorie to extend his loan is a no brainer for Rangers. It allows the teenager goalkeeper to learn his trade in a competitive environment where the challenge is greater than if he were playing just age-group football. With Wes Foderingham the undisputed number one at Ibrox, McCrorie could have a while to wait for an opportunity in the first team at his parent club but he has a big future ahead of him, just like his brother Ross, who has already established himself in Graeme Murty’s side this season with a series of astonishingly precocious performances.
