Kris Commons has condemned Moussa Dembele for going straight down the tunnel after he was subbed in Celtic’s match against Rangers.

In his column for the Daily Mail, the former Hoops player slammed Dembele for going straight for a shower after he was subbed on Saturday, instead of taking his place on the bench.

“Dembele was disrespecting his team-mates,” wrote Commons. “Perhaps his head is away and he wants to leave, that really struck me — that probably his time is up.

“I think there will be little rumbles in the changing room, because it was very, very strange that he did it.”

The Bhoys failed to beat bitter rivals Rangers on Saturday, drawing 0-0, with Dembele being replaced by Leigh Griffiths in the 61st minute.

Dembele has been linked with a January move away from Celtic, with the Hoops prepared to be inundated with bids.

Stoke City are the latest club to join the race for the striker’s signature with West Ham and Everton among the clubs interested.

Commons continued his column by revealing that the Hoops need to stand firm and not sell the striker on the cheap, despite him expressing his desire to leave.

OPINION

Dembele going straight down the tunnel once he was subbed, did suggest a lack of care for what was happening on the pitch. The striker is clearly ready to end his successful spell at the Bhoys and try his luck in another league. However, Dembele needs to be aware that his exit might not come in January if clubs don’t stump up the cash. With this being a possibility, the striker needs to make sure he conducts himself in a professional manner and doesn’t look like his dreaming of pastures new, as a bad reputation is easy to gain but hard to lose.
