West Ham are in talks with Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier and have offered the 27-year-old a three-year contract at the London Stadium, according to The Sun

The newspaper claim that Hammers boss David Moyes is desperate to boost his midfield options and is personally pushing for a deal with the France international, who is also coveted by Inter Milan.

The Sun report that Grenier is a free agent in the summer, and West Ham have offered him a pre-contract, but the club may be able to secure him this month for around £1million.

It is said that Grenier has wanted to leave Lyon for two seasons now, and the five-time France cap spent the second half of last season on loan at Roma.

Good move for West Ham?

There is no doubt that Grenier would be a great addition to the West Ham squad, but it is unlikely that he would be able to make much of an impact this season.

He has only played two matches for Lyon all campaign and it is therefore doubtful that he would be able to hit the ground running at the London Stadium.

That being said, a £1million deal for the classy midfielder would still represent good business, and would give Moyes that extra option in midfield if needed.

Either way, this should end up being a decent deal for the Hammers.

Likely to happen?

It looks as though Moyes is really pushing for this move, and that may well end up being the difference.

There is reported interest from Inter, but West Ham’s desire to secure Grenier’s services may see the 27-year-old decide to make a move to the Premier League.
