West Ham striker Javier Hernandez has asked to leave the London Stadium before the transfer window shuts next week amid speculation about his future, according to his agent.

As reported by Fox Sports, Hernandez’s agent has admitted that there is a lot of interest in his client, who is looking for regular football ahead of the World Cup.

Sky Sports report that West Ham are willing to listen to offers for the big-name 29-year-old, but his exit may be placed in doubt by injuries to Manuel Lanzini and Andy Carroll.

Agent Eduardo Hernandez, as quoted by Sky, said: “There are a number of clubs interested in his services, he’s a player everyone knows and is incredibly professional. Our primary focus is a club in which [Chicharito] can play the most games possible. That’s the most important.

“Javier has asked personally for it. He’s commented, stated and demanded that we look for a club that really needs a player with his characteristics because what he wants is to play and play and play.”

Good move for West Ham?

Not really.

Hernandez is a proven top-level performer with an excellent record in the Premier League and Bundesliga and has only just joined the club, and scored an important equaliser against Bournemouth in their last Premier League encounter.

With the reported injuries to Lanzini and Carroll, the Mexican international will take on a much more important role in the coming weeks for David Moyes.

Likely to happen?

You wouldn’t think so.

Moyes has spoken of the need to retain as many players as possible, and that is even more true after those two injuries.

Unless there is a big bid that comes in soon for the 29-year-old, it is almost certain he will remain in claret and blue for the rest of the season at least.
