Tottenham have confirmed that powerful striker Ryan Loft has joined Exeter City on loan until the end of the season.

Spurs confirmed the 20-year-old’s temporary exit via their official Twitter, posting a brief message wishing him good luck for the rest of the season.

The centre-forward had made seven appearances in the Premier League 2, as well as three appearances in the EFL Cup while at Tottenham this season.

However, he is still waiting to make his first appearance for Spurs’ senior team after coming through Tottenham’s academy.

Loft’s loan move to Exeter City is his third temporary exit from Spurs, having spent time on loan at Stevenage and Braintree Town.

When the forward was at Stevenage last season, he made nine leagues appearances for them, but failed to score a goal.

Devon Live previously reported that the 6ft 2in striker was on trial with Exeter and that he featured in a reserve game against Brentford for them.

OPINION

Loft clearly impressed during his trial at Exeter City, as they moved quickly to take him on loan. The centre-forward will be hoping to get on the scoresheet in League Two this time around, after failing to contribute goals at Stevenage. Loft has a golden opportunity at Exeter, as they were desperately in need of a forward to aid their promotion bid. The Grecians sit fifth in League Two, but are among the lowest scorers in the top half of the table. Exeter’s striking options were depleted earlier in January, when their striker Reuben Reid left to join Forest Green Rovers. It’ll be interesting to see whether Loft can take his chance this time.
