Oliver Sarkoc has revealed on Twitter that is delirious with happiness after have agreeing a permanent move to Leeds United from Benfica.

The centre-forward, 20, has spent the first half of the season on loan from the Portugese giants to the Championship promotion hopefuls.

That deal expired at the end of December but Leeds have acted quickly to come to an agreement with the Montenegro youth international.

Sarkic shared an image on his personal Twitter account that showed him penning a contract with Leeds at their Thorp Arch training headquarters.

The Montenegrin has spent the season with Carlos Corberan’s Under-23 side and scored a penalty in their 4-3 win against Hull City at Thorp Arch on Thursday afternoon.

Good move for Leeds?

United have had a chance to have a good look at the powerful striker in the opening half of the season and clearly like what they have seen. Sarkic might not be ready for the first team quite yet, but he could be in a season or two if he continues to develop. Alternatively, his value could rise even if he fails to make it at senior level. Leeds’ keenness to fill the development squad with exciting talent from around the world is laudable, but supporters would love to see more of an emphasis on the here and now, especially with the team competing genuinely for promotion. The first team has plenty of striker options, but none have proved to be especially convincing and investment on a senior centre-forward is the kind of ambition supporters are looking for from Andrea Radrizzani and company.
