Leeds United are reportedly in talks to sign Forest Green midfielder Jordan Stevens, according to Football Insider.

The football news site claim the Yorkshire giants are working on a deadline day deal for the midfield enforcer, 17, as they aim to beat a number of Premier League clubs to his signature.

Football Insider report that talent spotters at Leeds have been impressed by the youngster, who they are regard as a potential star in the making.

Leeds are planning to strengthen their Under-23 squad as they look to develop players for the first team following the permanent captures already this month of striker duo Oliver Sarkic and Sam Dalby, defenders Aape Halme and Pascal Struijk, and goalkeeper Kamil Miazek.
Stevens, who has come through the ranks at Forest Green, has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season and scored one goal.

Good move for Leeds?

Yes. Some will sniffily view Stevens as yet another signing to add to the legions already in place in the club’s Under-23s. But the results of the Leeds’ Under-23s in recent seasons has demonstrated the lack of genuine quality coming through the ranks following the under-investment of the Massimo Cellino era. Stevens is another for the future rather than the present but he is a player of enormous promise, and it is telling that top-flight English clubs have been tracking him.

Likely to happen?

Football Insider has emerged as an outstanding source of football and transfer news. Given that the site broke the Adam Forshaw, Andy Lonergan and Sam Dalby stories in the last two weeks, there is a very good chance that Stevens will be a Leeds player by the end of the day.
