Tottenham are one of three Premier League clubs chasing creative playmaker Nadiem Amiri from Hoffenheim, according to ESPN.
The news outlet claims that Spurs, Manchester United and Arsenal are interested in signing the 21-year-old attacking midfielder after his impressive performances in the Bundesliga over the past 18 months.
It is understood that German club Hoffenheim are keen to keep hold of their rising star, but are now bracing themselves for firm interest when the January transfer window opens.
The report details that German Under-21 International Amiri has drawn comparisons with Spurs ace Dele Alli due to his influence in the final third.
Spurs were reportedly interested in signing Amiri last summer, but they have now been joined by some Premier League big hitters.
Good move for Tottenham?
Amiri is an emerging talent at Hoffenheim that has become a mainstay in the starting XI recently and has all the tools that would make him successful in the Premier League.
The versatile playmaker, who can play in either a central role or out wide, is a technically gifted player that is a regular in Germany’s youth teams.
He has scored four goals in 18 games across all competitions this season and has all the attributes that could make him a great signing for Mauricio Pochettino.
However, Spurs do already have several top-class creative players in their squad and could perhaps do with another striker or midfield reinforcements in January.

It seems unlikely that Spurs would pick up Amiri in the near future, despite Hoffenheim bracing themselves for January interest.
The attacker is still under contract with the Bundesliga club until 2020 and they are reluctant to let him leave.
There is also the added competition from some of their main Premier League rivals and they are yet to make any sort of official approach.
