Tottenham could be offered Barcelona defender Jordi Alba as a makeweight in a deal to sign Danny Rose, according to GOL Digital.

The Spanish publication claims that Spanish giants Barcelona are keen on signing Spurs’ left-back and are ready to battle Manchester United and Manchester City for his signature.

It is understood that the La Liga club are willing to offer their own defender Alba in an attempt to secure a deal.

The report details that Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has grown uncertain about the quality of Alba, 28, and is willing to include him in a part exchange deal.

Mauricio Pochettino is believed to have approved the notion of a swap move as the exit of 27-year-old Rose from Spurs looms.

The Mail have reported that Man United are lining up a £50million bid for the England international and there is set to be a mad scramble for his signature.

Good move for Spurs?

Alba is a sensational player that would be a brilliant capture for Spurs and won the Champions League with Barcelona in the 2014/15 campaign.

The Spain international is a rapid left-back that would be the ideal replacement for Rose and would certainly overtake Ben Davies in the pecking order.

Alba has been sounded out as one of the best left-backs in world football during recent years and his electric speed would see him rip up the Premier League.

He has a cultured left foot and it would be a great test for him to move to England.

Likely to happen?

Rose’s exit certainly appears very likely after his comments in the past 12 months about his frustration on the pitch and also the claim that he could earn more money elsewhere.

However, the idea that they could bring in Alba from Barcelona to replace him and send Rose the other way seems a long shot.

Alba has never played outside of his homeland Spain and making a move to Spurs would be a huge shock to most people.
