Tottenham are reportedly keeping close tabs on Valencia’s on-loan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia – and Spurs fans delivered mixed verdicts on their pursuit.
Sky Sports claim that the north London club’s recruitment experts are watching midfield powerhouse Kondogbia with a view to signing him as a replacement for Mousa Dembele.
The 24-year-old central midfielder is about to enter the final 18 months of his deal with parent club Inter Milan, who loaned him out to Valencia this season after he slipped down the pecking order over the summer.
Kondogbia has had an excellent start to the campaign at Valencia, who are second in La Liga and have emerged as Barcelona’s closest challengers for the Spanish title.
Valencia believe they “have a right to buy at the end of the season and already have an agreement with Kondogbia, should we exercise the option,” according to the club’s general director Mateu Alemany.
However, Tottenham are in hot pursuit of the France international, who has won five caps for his country.
The club’s fans are split between regarding Kondogbia as an excellent potential signing, and those who insist he is not good enough to replace Belgium international Dembele.

He’s been on the radar for a couple of years but I always thought it was links from dodgy Italian websites or usual suspect journalists

I might get a lot of stick for this.
But this lad is better than Dembele. Would be our best signing if we can pull it off. He’s ????????????— Rohit Karna (@DeleTubbies20) December 4, 2017
Lol he’s not
Dembele is having a poor season but is phenomenally good. Kondogbia was shocking at inter, very poor to say the least.— Ben Rafter (@BenRafter2) December 4, 2017
Wonder if these changes our stance on Barkley.
