Leeds United goalkeeper Will Huffer has signed a contract at Elland Road, it has been confirmed.

The Whites announced on their official website on Thursday evening that the 19-year-old has penned a deal after impressing for their youth teams.

He has signed an initial deal until June 2018, with the Yorkshire giants holding the option to extend his deal by a further year.

Huffer has turned in some impressive displays for Leeds’ Under-18 and Under-23 teams in the past, which has now seen him land a professional contract.

The teenager has previously represented England at youth level in the past and is a highly-rated upcoming talent that has now been rewarded for his efforts.

Good move for Leeds?

Leeds are looking to kick on into the Premier League under owner Andrea Radrizzani and manager Thomas Christiansen, but it’s important that there is still a focus on the club’s youth system. Academy star Huffer has been rewarded with a senior contract for his performances and he will hope to make a first-team breakthrough in the future. Bailey Peacock-Farrell is a young goalkeeper that has developed from the Leeds academy and he is currently the third-choice option, with Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan ahead of him. Huffer is still extremely young for a goalkeeper at the age of 19, but his new deal suggests the Championship side see big potential in him. It could still be a while before Leeds fans see him make his first-team debut, but he will take huge confidence from a contract.
