Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are lining up a move for Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, according to El Gol Digital.

The Spanish news outlet claims that the La Liga club are aware that they could lose their stop-stopper Jan Oblak next summer.

It is understood they could receive up to £88million for his sale and they are already drawing up plans for his replacement.

The report details that Spurs ace Lloris has emerged as a number one target given his consistency in the Premier League over the years.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois and Inter Milan’s Samir Handanovic have also also been considered.

Spurs captain Lloris has been a star performer for the north London club since he joined them in 2012 and is regarded as one of the world’s top goalkeepers.

The Sun have previously reported that the 31-year-old is one of the biggest earners at the club alongside Harry Kane on £100,000-a-week.

Good move for Spurs?

Spurs should resist any potential interest from Atletico for their number one goalkeeper as Lloris is still a star performer for them.

The France international is a huge leader in the dressing room and it would be extremely difficult for manager Mauricio Pochettino to find a replacement in the transfer window.

Lloris has been criticised at times this campaign for a few lapses in concentration, but he is certainly still a great shot-stopper and has several years left at the top of his game.

Likely to happen?

Atletico will be a serious threat to Spurs if they receive an £88million windfall from Oblak’s sale and can go into the market for the best goalkeepers in the world.

However, Lloris is still considered a brilliant player by the club and a senior professional that is an integral part of the starting XI.
