Mauricio Pochettino is expected to make eight changes to the Tottenham side for their Premier League clash against Stoke City on Saturday afternoon, according to Football London.

The Trinity Mirror site claim that only three members of the starting XI for the 3-0 win against Apoel Nicosia in the Champions League in midweek are in line to retain their places.

Football London report that everyone bar Son Heung-Min, Dele Alli and Harry Winks will drop out of the team, which means the axe for the likes of Serge Aurier and Danny Rose.

It is said that senior quintet Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen and Kieran Trippier, who were all left out of the squad to face Apoel , “will all come back into the team” to face Mark Hughes’ men at Wembley.

There are also set to be recalls to the starting XI for Ben Davies, Mousa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen, who were all on the bench in midweek, with only the Belgian coming on to play 25 minutes.

OPINION

Spurs should really feel the benefits of their outstanding Champions League group stage campaign against Stoke. The midweek stroll against Apoel enabled Pochettino to give breathers to his key men, with most of them able to put their feet up on Wednesday safe in the knowledge they will play against Stoke. That may be harsh on speed machine Aurier and Rose in particular, but the manager loves to rotate his full-backs between midweek and weekend assignments. Spurs have failed to take three points in any of their last four league matches, with two draws and two losses seeing them drop out of the top four and into sixth position while all but ending their title hopes before the Christmas lights were turned on.
