Everton are on the brink of agreeing a new deal with their defender Jonjoe Kenny, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper claims that the 20-year-old is “about” to sign a new contract at Goodison Park after breaking into the first team recently.

He is a product of the academy at the Merseyside club and has been given a serious role in the senior set-up this campaign.

The England Under-21 international has made 13 senior appearances across all competitions so far this campaign and is now looking to cement his place in the side under new manager Sam Allardyce.

The right-back is currently under contract with Everton until 2019, but is set to be given an extension after his improvement.

Good move for Everton?

Everton have a number of promising talents breaking through at the club and rising star Kenny is one of the best of the bunch.

The full-back will certainly deserve a new deal with the Toffees as he begins to really settle at senior level.

He has made the most of Seamus Coleman’s absence in the squad during his long-term injury and is proving he has a big future.

Likely to happen?

Kenny’s increased involvement in the senior team this campaign is set to be rewarded with a new deal and he is seen as a bright spark to come out of the academy.

Everton have shown in the past their desire to promote youth talents the club and it seems fairly likely that Kenny will be the latest to reap the rewards.
