Newcastle would surely have never been able to land Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud due to his wages before a potential takeover, but they should attempt a move now in January with more money behind them.

The 31-year-old is desperate to book his place in France’s squad ahead of the World Cup and would be a great option for the North East club.

The Evening Standard report that Giroud is open to leaving in January on loan and his tally of 105 goals for the Gunners shows what a quality goalscorer he is.
