Rangers caretaker boss Graeme Murty has admitted he would find it hard to manage anywhere else after his stint in charge of the club.

Murty has been at the Ibrox helm since the sacking of Pedro Caixinha on the 26th of October, and has led the club to three wins and two losses in his five games.

The development coach has not been ruled out of the running to become the next boss, but it is looking likely that the club will look elsewhere after Dave King’s comments at their AGM.

The youth coach will lead the Light Blues into this weekend’s fixture with Aberdeen not knowing if it will be his last, but admitted he won’t find anywhere else like Ibrox.

Murty spoke to the press ahead of the clash with the Dons at Pittodrie, and the full video was posted to the Rangers official website.

At six minutes and three seconds on the video below, Murty is asked if his stint has increased his ambition to become a manager. He replied: “It’s possibly increased my account of grey hairs. But, as to management, I don’t know where I could go actually that gives me the same feeling that this place does. But that’s something I am going to have to take away with me and have a look at and consider along with my family in the future.

When questioned further, at six minutes and 41 seconds, Murty said: “I just mean that since I’ve come to this place I’ve been fascinated and not a little awestruck by the size and scale of the operation. The depth of feeling that it engenders in it’s support and it’s players. This is a very, very special club.

“So, all I’ll say is that for me to step into a different environment, I would have to feel that in a different way. But nothing could compare to this place because it is singular. It’s out there on it’s own. So, I don’t have to compare it to scale, I just have to compare the feeling when you walk through the door.”

OPINION

While Murty may not have done enough to secure himself the job on a permanent basis, Rangers fans will appreciate the work he has done over the last five weeks. This is a man who has such obvious passion for the club, and that is something that a lot of football clubs lack. He will not have done his chances of managing elsewhere any harm with his work at the Light Blues, but it sounds like Murty will most likely stay on at the club and return to his role as development squad coach. Having someone so vocally passionate about a club is a breath of fresh air, and Rangers will want to keep hold of Murty at all costs.
