West Ham are currently at a standstill over talks with their young midfielder Domingos Quina, according to Claret and Hugh.

The Hammers news site, who have established themselves as a reliable informant, claims that the 18-year-old’s representatives are in discussions with the club about agreeing a new four-year deal, with just 18 months remaining on his existing contract.

It is understood they are demanding a £25,000-a-week deal, but they have hit a brick wall as it stands.

The report details that West Ham could cash in for the Portuguese youngster next summer for £8million if a deal can’t be negotiated in the remainder of the season.

However, it understands that a January exit would not be on the cards unless a transfer request is handed in.

The Daily Mail have previously reported that Liverpool are lining up a January raid for Quina and that West Ham would be willing to cash in for their rising star in the New Year, contrary to Claret and Hugh.

Good move for West Ham?

West Ham selling prized asset Quina certainly would be a bad decision and they should look to keep the upcoming talent at the London Stadium.

The central midfielder only moved to the club last summer on a free transfer after leaving Chelsea and is being tipped for great things.

David Moyes should be looking to tap into the talent at the club’s expense at youth level and Quina has had a glimpse of senior football with four first-team appearances for the Hammers.

Likely to happen?

It seems like Quina’s future at West Ham is in doubt, with conflicting reports suggesting that Liverpool may or may not be in pursuit of the midfielder in January.

He is certainly a rising star at the London Stadium whose future is in doubt as he approaches the final 18 months of his contract.

It is understood he is currently in talks with West Ham about landing a new deal and his future will surely be decided on how they go.
