Martin Keown has raved about the quality of Tottenham centre-forward Harry Kane and believes he has trained himself to become a clinical finisher on both feet.

The 24-year-old is a right-footed player by trade and has become a crucial part of the Spurs team in the past few seasons.

He has continued to be in brilliant form this campaign and has netted 24 times across all competitions in as many games.

The England international netted a hat-trick on Boxing Day in a win against Southampton and that means he overtook Alan Shearer’s record for the most Premier League goals in a calendar year.

Kane has ended up with 39 top-flight goals in 2017 and is regarded as one of the best strikers in world football.

Pundit Keown insists that Kane has purposely worked hard on becoming better on his left foot and feels that is now a real weapon that has helped him light up the Premier League.

“He keeps developing his game. We know that he hits the ball early and hard, and that to stop him defenders almost have to stand on his right foot,” Keown wrote in the Daily Mail.

“Now, he is coming inside and feathering the ball with his left foot. He has scored more goals with his left than his right in the Premier League this season and that is because he is creating more mystery for defenders.”

OPINION

Kane has to be considered in the top bracket of players now for his consistency recently and he is talisman in Mauricio Pochettino’s side. The forward scored a total of 56 goals in 2017 for club and country, with 17 of them coming from his left foot to highlight Keown’s point. He would certainly improve any team in the world if he was to ever leave the north London club and they need to ensure his long-term feature remains in the Premier League. Kane is on course to win a third consecutive Premier League golden boot given his form this season and there is no reason why he shouldn’t be eyeing Shearer’s all-time tally of 260 goals.
