Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to react with dismay to the news that midfielder Christian Eriksen is to start against Watford.
Spurs travel to Vicarage Road looking for their first win in four Premier League games, with defeat to Leicester last time out following a draw with West Brom and another loss to rivals Arsenal.
They have now slid to seventh in the Premier League amid their poor form as they find themselves four points behind Arsenal in the race for the Champions League.
Mauricio Pochettino has selected a strong attacking side to play the Hornets, but the inclusion of Eriksen has raised eyebrows among the Spurs faithful.
The Danish international has struggled recently for Spurs in the wake of his heroics on the international stage, single-handedly guiding his country to the World Cup with a hat-trick against Ireland in the play-offs.
Eriksen has looked off-colour for Tottenham as they struggle to regain the form that saw them finish second last season, and Pochettino admitted yesterday that the Dane was mentally drained.
In the wake of that admission, it is a surprise to see that Eriksen starts once again for Spurs as they make the short trip north to Hertfordshire.
