Orlando City striker Cyle Larin is set to snub Leeds United and move to Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach, according to The Sun

The newspaper claim that Leeds had identified the Canadian international as a January transfer target, with the club believing he could come in and help their push for promotion.

The Sun report that Turkish giants Besiktas were also interested in his signature, but the 22-year-old goal machine has chosen to join Monchengladbach.

It is said that Larin was spotted at their match against Bayern Munich at the end of November, and the Bundesliga side are now favourites to land the young star.

Larin has been in prolific form since joining MLS side Orlando, netting 44 goals in 89 appearances for the Florida outfit.

Good move for Leeds United?

This is an interesting one. Larin is obviously a talented player, and at just 22, has the potential to vastly improve.

His goalscoring record speaks for itself, although it must be remembered that this is the MLS, and the standard of defending doesn’t come close to that seen in the Championship.

So, there is no doubting his potential, but would he be a player that could come in and make an impact in the promotion push?

The likelihood is that he would not, and would take time to settle in England. That is not to say he would not be a good signing in the long-term, but for Leeds’ immediate aims, it seems a strange one.

Likely to happen?

At this point, no.

Monchengladbach look to have this one wrapped up, and Leeds will have to look elsewhere in their promotion efforts.

That may not necessarily be a bad thing though, and Larin’s impact in Germany will be interesting to see.
