Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino needs to make the bold decision to axe Ben Davies from the starting XI for the upcoming trip against Leicester in the Premier League.

Spurs travel to the King Power Stadium in mid-week and there should be a direct switch in the left wing-back position.

Davies should be axed from the starting XI after his display in the draw against West Brom and left-sided speed machine Danny Rose should replace him.

Pochettino has regularly rotated his wing-back options so far this campaign and preferred Davies in the Premier League, but he needs to throw that policy out of the window.

Davies has been a mainstay in the top-flight matches so far this campaign and the Wales international has been much improved.

The 24-year-old is a consistent performer for the north London club and put in another decent performance in the 1-1 stalemate with West Brom, but once again lacked something in the final third.

He has improved the attacking side of his game to an extent, but still is not able to dribble past a man and doesn’t have express pace.

Davies should still play a big role for Spurs throughout the rest of the campaign, but Pochettino needs to play his best XI in the Premier League to at the very least guarantee a top-four finish.

Rose must get the nod in the starting XI despite their being widespread rumours he will leave in the January transfer window.

The England international for now is on the books with Spurs and can make a real difference to the side if selected.

He showed his qualities against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League recently and his pace really frightens opponents down the flank.

Pochettino needs to use Rose while he is still at his disposal and send a clear message that he is number one by starting him away to Leicester in mid-week.
