Tottenham are in the race to sign centre-forward Gorka Guruzeta and their current player Fernando Llorente could have a role to play in the deal, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal will scout the 21-year-old on Wednesday when he represents Bilbao Athletic, who are the feeder club for La Liga outfit Athletic Bilbao.

It is understood that Newcastle could also join the race and that Premier League sides have been alerted to the youngster as he can move without a transfer fee when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The report details that Spurs ace Llorente, who is a product of Athletic Bilbao and followed their youth policy, could help secure the move.

The North London club are hoping that the presence of Llorente can help lure Guruzeta to them ahead of English rivals.

Guruzeta is a giant 6ft 2in forward that is a huge presence in the penalty area and many believe he could do the business in the Premier League.

Good move for Spurs?

Guruzeta is an interesting option for Spurs and the Spaniard must be worth a punt given they can sign him for free, with a small training compensation the only financial problem.

The powerful centre-forward has scored six goals in 14 games for feeder club Bilbao Athletic and may now be ready for senior football.

He is yet to earn a promotion to the La Liga outfit, but his style of play may be far more suited to the Premier League.

Pochettino is an expert at developing young talents and adding another striker to help nurture could turn out to be a success.

Likely to happen?

Spurs have continually picked up young stars in recent years and Guruzeta looks like he could be the next one.

Llorente gives the North London club a slight edge over all of their rivals and may have to have a conversation with the 21-year-old to secure the deal.

He is available to move on for free in the summer and does look set to at least depart Spain to make the move to England.
