Watford have reportedly rejected an approach from Everton for their highly-rated manager Marco Silva – and fans of the Hertfordshire club have taken to Twitter to deliver mixed verdicts.
Silva had initially been thought to be keen on staying at Vicarage Road and showing loyalty to the club who brought him back to the Premier League after old club Hull’s relegation.
But it now seems as though the Portuguese is keen to move on to a bigger Premier League rival, with Everton keen to secure his services, but the Hornets want to keep their talented boss.
Portuguese Silva arrived on these shores as a relative unknown, but he had already found great success with Sporting Lisbon and Olympiakos.
The 40-year-old was appointed Hull manager in January, charged with keeping the Tigers in the Premier League.
Despite failing to do so, Silva’s side impressed with four wins in their first four home games, managing six wins in total from their last 18 games, but it was not enough to save them from the drop.
Watford fans have reacted on Twitter to this latest development in Everton’s manager search, with opinions divided at Silva’s apparent interest in the Toffees job.

Wow if Marco silva wants to leave after 12 games in charge let him go.. proven nothing so far. Nobody is bigger than our club #WatfordFC

Think we need to be realistic about Marco Silva, he’s clearly going to the top, we were always gonna be a stepping stone. If he leaves us to go to what is a bigger club, no matter what the league says, to better his career then can’t really blame him. Wonder who next?? #watfordfc

If Marco Silva does decide to stay then huge credit goes to the #WatfordFC board for their businesslike approach to this. Remember Duxbury saying there's no point in sulking and going public (like Southampton) if somebody makes an approach for your staff.

I can see why he'd be interested but to leave after only 11 games is IMO poor. I truly hopes he stays as the football we play is excellent to watch, the last 3 games could easily been wins. Our injuries to our defense are also a factor which should start to improve the displays

If Silva is prepared to stay at #WatfordFC and give 100%, he should have our full support. This is a two way relationship and both sides have to be giving their all for it to properly function.
Now let’s try to forget this Everton nonsense and move on. COYH. pic.twitter.com/tHIwzSAUlE

Take Richarlison’s influence out and Silva hasn’t done much more than create a team that can’t defend. He still has a lot to prove if he has ambitions at a top 6 club. #watfordfc

If Silva does go will be severely pissed off but not overly surprised. He's done ok, and its been fun so far but he's achieved nothing. Has always had the feel of a short term appointment, and he's sowed more than a few seeds, just not this short. Que sera sera…. #watfordfc
